Full-Time Finance Manager

The Barrington Area Library is looking for a full-time Finance Manager to oversee the fiscal operations and day-to-day finances of the Library and its $9 million budget. This individual provides financial direction and accountability for the Library’s capital through compliance with current regulations, policies, procedures, and generally accepted accounting practices. The Finance Manager oversees and maintains accounts receivables, accounts payable, general ledger, bank reconciliation, investment accounts, and tax payments. This individual processes payroll, prepares financial statements, coordinates the annual budget, and oversees the annual audit.

Requirements and Skills:
The best applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Finance, or other related field, or equivalent work experience. At least five (5) or more years of relevant experience is preferred. Prior experience in governmental accounting is ideal. Knowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting, cost control procedures, auditing practices, and generally accepted accounting principles is required. Knowledge of and skill with various software programs (financial software, Human Resources Information Systems and Microsoft Office tools) are beneficial.

Onsite/Remote Work Location:
Barrington Area Library; some work for this position may be done remotely.

Hours, Salary and Benefits:
This is a full-time, exempt position. The starting salary is $75,000 (negotiable). In exchange for your time and talent, we offer a generous benefit package that includes:

Part-Time Youth Services Assistant Librarian

The Barrington Area Library seeks an organized, friendly, and customer-focused individual to complete our Youth Services team. The Youth Services Assistant Librarian provides reference and reader’s advisory to customers, assists professional staff with programs, and performs a variety of activities essential to the daily operation of the department.

About the Department:
The Youth Services department is responsible for selecting and recommending materials for children from birth-eighth grade and their caregivers, as well as shaping services, experiences, and spaces that inspire curiosity and create young readers. The Youth Services space is a lively, interactive environment – we even have a slide! – that encourages discovery and hands-on learning through play.

About You:

  • You’re passionate about inspiring young readers and learners (and like to learn new things yourself).
  • You’re comfortable relating to kids of all ages and their caregivers.

Requirements and Skills:
This position requires completion of a bachelor’s degree. The successful candidate will have: direct experience working with children; service-related work experience; and a demonstrated history of strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, digital literacy, and customer service skills.

Hours, Salary, and Benefits:
This position will be scheduled a minimum of 20 hours per week, including day, evening, and weekend shifts. Additional hours may be required on an as-needed basis. The salary is $20.87 per hour. This position includes participation in the IMRF retirement plan, and earns vacation, sick, and holiday benefits.
