Talk Like TED: the 9 public-speaking secrets of the world's top minds by Carmine Gallo is now available at the Barrington Area Library.
Do you have an important presentation to give? Are you pitching an idea to your boss or to potential clients? Carmine Gallo’s book, Talk Like TED, helps you take public speaking to the next level.
Say goodbye to boring PowerPoint presentations and learn to deliver more persuasive, engaging, and energetic talks. Since 1984, innovative thinkers have delivered hundreds of TED (Technology- Education- Design) Talks around the world that leave an incredible impact on their audience and then spread virally online. Gallo, a communications coach, speaker, and author, analyzed these TED Talks and explains the key factors that make a speech go from mundane to memorable. The nine suggestions given in Talk Like Ted include tips such as perfecting the art of storytelling, having a conversation instead of talking at people, delivering jaw-dropping moments, sticking to the 18-minute rule, and using multisensory descriptors. Gallo gives examples from TED talks about how the speakers utilized these concepts, and provides suggestions so you can adapt them into your own presentations. This is a must-read for improving communication and public-speaking skills in any business sector.
