This page has been created as way to share information regarding access to the Barrington Area Library in Barrington, IL, during the extensive Route 14 roadwork and railway underpass project. In addition to using e-mail newsletters and social media, the Library will use this page to keep Library visitors updated on current conditions at the Library's entrance on Route 14.
Beginning Monday, Sept 15, and continuing for at least four weeks, Route 14 will be closed between Valencia Avenue and Hough Street, in both directions. Here are more details about how you and your family may access the Library during this next phase of the Route 14 project.
1) Beginning on Monday, Sept 15, "local traffic" access will allow vehicles to get to/from the Library by using Route 14 via Lake-Cook/Main Street. There will be no vehicle access via Berry Road; do not use Berry to cross over Route 14. There will be no left turn access to 14 from Valencia Avenue as well.
2) There will be no pedestrian/bike crossing at Berry and Route 14. Please use the crosswalk at Main Street and Route 14 or make your journey from the paths at Citizens Park.
3) The Library intends to remain open all regular hours. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time, and we also appreciate your questions and concerns regarding the construction work. Your safety is our top priority.
4) We encourage you to explore some of our innovative services, like Borrow By Mail, automated pick-up lockers, and huge selection of downloadable e-books, audiobooks, and magazines, at this time. We will continue to provide the very best Library service to you.
