Welcome to Borrow By Mail. This free service is a great complement to the Library's Parking Lot Pick-Up, pick-up lockers and Homebound Services. It also allows customers to access almost all of the Library's circulating collections while remaining safely at home.
How does Borrow By Mail work?
- Log into your BALibrary account through our website.
- Search the online catalog. When you find a book or movie you'd like to borrow, click "Place Request."
- When asked to choose a Pick-Up Location, click the "Send to me via Borrow By Mail" checkbox instead.
- Watch your mailbox for your delivery! You will receive an email, including tracking information, when your item has shipped.
- When you've finished enjoying your item, simply return it to any of our drop boxes - there are currently ten community drop boxes available for returns.
More important details:
- This free service is available to our District resident cardholders, non-residents with a Barrington Area Library District card, and business/government cardholders.
- Up to five items per day may be mailed to a specific cardholder. Additional requested items will be held until the next mailing day.
- Items may take up to three days to arrive once they have shipped. An extra three days will be added to your checkout time.
- Items can only be mailed to addresses within the Barrington Area Library district and surrounding communities.
- If you are not able to return the items to a drop box, please inquire about our Homebound Services.
- A few item types cannot be delivered via Borrow By Mail, due to size restrictions: backpacks, oversized books, and any type of equipment, including laptops and tablets.
