When the lockdown started I was anxious about things, but something that helped me relax was sitting in my favorite nook and reading. I decided I was going to use some of this time to finish series that I had previously started! There are a good number of books that I read on release, and then by the time the 2nd and 3rd book come around - the series had gotten pushed pretty far down on my read list with newer titles taking precedent. WELL NO MORE WAITING I SAID! Here's my take on the following trilogies smile

Shades of Magic Series by VE Schwab

I had the pleasure of leading a book discussion on this title a few years ago. It was with a group who didn't normally read a lot of fantasy, but overall it was a hit! This series has a very unique and creative world, with the storyline following an Antari which are the most powerful magicians in London, and have the ability to travel between different versions of the city. The first book stays in the London area, but as the series goes on - the world and seas get explored, and many old secrets are revealed...

The Riyria Revelations by Michael J. Sullivan

So what is The Riyria Revelations all about? Well there's no ancient evil to defeat, no orphan destined for greatness, or quest for a magical item to save mankind. Instead it's a story about two unlikely heroes who find themselves caught up in events with epic consequences.

Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

This series is set to be released as a show on Netflix in late 2020 or early next year. I had heard some good things about this series, and with the television show coming out I wanted to read it before I saw the show! Bardugo creates a deep storyline with a really cool magic system. This series is more geared towards YA, but that didn't stop it from being enjoyable and easy to read. Definitely some memorable characters from this one!

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

I have already read this before, but I had to give it a re-read! This could be my favorite fantasy trilogy of all time. Excellent world building, character development, with one of the best magic systems I've ever encountered, and I thought the ending was pure genius. There are many twists and turns as you get dropped into the Final Empire which makes it hard to stop reading. What more can you ask for?
