• Move, Build, Create, and Connect at the DuPage Children's Museum!

    Hi, cardholders! Summer is the perfect season to visit the amazing DuPage Children's Museum, where kids can flex their brain muscles, hone their fine motor skills, and -- of course -- have fun!

    Located in Naperville, Illinois, the DuPage Children's Museum uses science and art to stimulate children's creativity and problem-solving skills. Here are just a few of the great exhibits families can visit:

    - Play, build, and create with real wood and real tools at The Moser Construction House!

    - Generate energy with a big waterwheel, create a current with circuits and conductors, and navigate a wind tunnel at AWEsome Energy!

    Work together to build a pyramid at Pyramid Bench!

    There are so many cool things kids can do at the DuPage Children's Museum, all of which are designed to develop specific skills in children of all ages.

    Barrington Area Library cardholders will receive one FREE museum admission with purchase of one regular admission. Maximum of three free admissions.

    Advanced reservations are not required for Explore More Illinois users. Please go to the museum front desk and show your pass to receive your discount. Pass cannot be combined with any other offer. Not valid for parties, group visits, field trips, or Bubble Bash.

  • Explore the Wonders of Science at the Discovery Center Museum!

    Hey, Barrington Area Library cardholders, if you've got a little scientist at home, be sure to take them to the Discovery Center Museum in Rockford, Illinois... but take advantage of our Explore More Illinois program first!

    Boasting more than 300 interactive exhibits, the Museum is sure to appeal to kids and families fascinated by science -- whether it's space travel, agriculture, the human body, or even sports science, the Museum has it! Kids can send messages in Morse code, visit a planetarium, manipulate a miniature hot air balloon, witness the formation of a small tornado... and more!

    Barrington Area Library cardholders can receive up to two additional, free admission passes with purchase of two admission passes.

  • Take a Trip to the Kidzeum of Health and Science with Explore More Illinois!

     

    Hey there, cardholders! If you and your little ones are interested in learning how to keep healthy this summer, look no further -- the Kidzeum of Health and Science is the place for you!

    Located in Springfield, the Kidzeum is committed to fostering life-long learning in children, sparking curiosity in science and inspiring concern for their health and the health of the world around them. Kids can learn about environmental health -- interactive water tables, the agricultural process -- as well as recycling and weather issues. Children are welcome to explore the various community exhibits, learning about why medical personnel, firefighters, construction workers, etc. are vital to their community and how each profession works.

    There's also the three-story personal health exhibit, where kids travel through a human body from the legs up through the nose, learning about the various functions of the body and how (and why) everything is interconnected.

    Barrington Area Library cardholders will receive a $3 discount off general admission via Explore More Illinois. Only one discount admission per person per visit. Please check available visiting dates prior to redemption of offer.

  • Take a Trip to the Exploration Station with Explore More Illinois!

     

    Hey, cardholders! The Exploration Station is calling!

    Based in Bourbonnais, Illinois, the Exploration Station offers a variety of hands on learning experiences for kids of all ages. Your little one can take on the role of royalty at Exploralot Castle, play with x-rays in the "Illumination" room, work on a kid-sized car at the Wreck Resort Car Care Center, cook up some grub at the Lickety Split Soda Shop & Diner, and much more!

    So take a trip to the Exploration Station! Barrington Area Library cardholders can receive one free adult admission with one paid children's admission.

  • Take Your Little Paleontologist to the Dinosaur Discovery Museum with Explore More Illinois!

     

    Does your little one love dinosaurs -- let's be honest, who doesn't? Take a trip to the Dinosaur Discovery Museum in Kenosha, Wisconsin! But before you do, be sure to take advantage of the Explore More Illinois program.

     

    Explore More Illinois, offered and operated by RAILS (Reaching Across Illinois Library Systems), makes it easier for cardholders to visit various museums, historical sites, and other educational sites across Illinois (and part of Wisconsin).

     

    Paleontologists of all ages are sure to be amazed by the stunning exhibits on display at the Museum, marvel at the story of Little Clint the Tyrannosaurus rex, and be fascinated by the science of fossil preservation and study. Kids can also take part in an Eye Spy activity that covers the entire Museum.

  • Take a Trip to the Chicago Children’s Museum with Explore More Illinois!

     

    Attention, cardholders: the Barrington Area Library is now participating in the Explore More Illinois program. This service, offered by RAILS (Reaching Across Illinois Library Systems), makes it easier for cardholders to visit various museums, historical sites, and other educational sites across Illinois (and part of Wisconsin).

    Today we’ll look at the Chicago Children’s Museum, one of the many exciting locations you can visit!

    At the Chicago Children’s Museum (located on Navy Pier) kids can climb 37 feet up in the Cloud Buster, dig for bones on the Dinosaur Expedition, solve engineering puzzles in the Tinkering Lab, produce cinematic mini-masterpieces at the Story Hub, and much more.

The Chicago Children’s Museum offers Barrington Area Library cardholders a special offer on passes: 4 for the price of 1! For only $20 a group of 4 can spend the day at the Museum.
