PFC Walter G. Tuegel

Walter Gus Tuegel was born February 12, 1907 in Barrington to Louis and Martha Waske Tuegel.
His family relocated to Campbell County, Wyoming before 1920, where Tuegel’s father worked for the railroad, then farmed.
Tuegel followed his twin brother Albert back to Barrington in the early 1930’s, where they both found employment as truck drivers for Gold Star Motor Company.
On March 6, 1936, he married Navere Keiler in Bensenville; they raised one child in Barrington.
Tuegel joined the U.S. Army for duty in World War II on January 22, 1944, and was stationed in England. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class on October 22, 1945.
PFC Walter Tuegel died February 9, 1997 in Hoffman Estates, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
