Harold Franklin Reese was born August 28, 1914 in Barrington to Elmer and Lillian Grimm Reese.
On May 17, 1941, he married Marie Lohman in Lake Zurich; they raised two children there.
Reese served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Second Class with the job title of Fire Controlman during World War II from 1944 to 1946. A Fire Controlman is a technical expert who operates, maintains, and repairs combat weapon systems on surface warships, controlling the "firepower" of the ship.
He wore many professional hats in his lifetime, including gas station manager, taxidermist, and carpenter. Reese was also Fire Chief of the Village of Lake Zurich 1952 - 1953.
S2C Harold Reese died December 7, 1996 in Barrington, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
