Lucy Gertrude Harrison was born October 29, 1922 in Chicago to Bernard & Bessie Jilek Harrison.

She served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an Army nurse, like more than 57,000 other American women. Standard entry rank for a qualified nurse entering the corps was a second lieutenant (initially as a "relative" rank, later fully commissioned), with well over 90% holding this exact rank.

Harrison married Bernard “Duke” Henry, Jr. on September 18, 1948; they raised eight children in Barrington.

She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1949 from DePaul University.

2LT Lucy G. Henry passed away on August 24, 2016, and is buried with her husband in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
