Frank James Brainerd was born December 6, 1925, in Bruce, Wisconsin to Eugene and Hazel Starr Brainerd.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, enlisting in the Fall of 1945. He was honorably discharged in the Fall of 1946 as a Private First Class.
On August 22, 1948, he married Dorothy Nelson in Bruce, Wisconsin; they raised four children.
After he was married, Brainerd and his wife moved to Northfield, where he serviced oil burners. He later owned and operated Barrington Heating and Cooling for over 30 years.
He was a member of the Village Church of Barrington.
PFC Frank Brainerd died November 19, 2006 in Lake Zurich, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
