SFC Albert H. Schutt

Albert Henry Schutt was born February 18, 1895 in Barrington to Theodor and Lena Objartel Schutt.
Schutt entered the U.S. Army on November 4, 1915 for service in World War I. He was a member of Company C, 108th Field Signal Battalion, and was honorably discharged on June 7, 1919 at the rank of Sergeant First Class.
On August 4, 1921, Schutt married Hazel Sayler; they raised two children in Des Plaines.
After the war, Schutt worked for his father, a shoemaker. He began working for the Chicago Daily News in 1930, and stayed for 30 years - retiring in 1960.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Masonic Lodge #63, the American Legion post of Avon Park, Florida and VFW Post #5040 in Woodstock.
SFC Albert Schutt died February 26, 1990 in Woodstock; he is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
