Frank Jamicich was born October 22, 1922 in Chicago to John and Helen Piasowski Jamicich.
Jamicich enlisted for World War II service in the U.S. Army Air Corps on September 4, 1942. He served 18 months with the U.S. Army before his assignment to the 9th Air Force B-26 Marauder Base in England, where he was a crew chief. He also served with the 15th Army Air Force in Italy and in the Pacific Theater. After re-enlisting in 1946, he was honorably discharged as a Tech Sergeant on January 26, 1948 with a Bronze Star Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation, and four bronze battle stars.
On February 1, 1947, Jamicich married Margaret “Marge” Artontis in Chicago; they raised five children in Calumet City.
After his military service, he worked as a machinist for steel companies and for the City of Chicago Water Department.
TSGT Frank Jamicich died January 7, 1990 in his Barrington Hills home, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
