Robert Hurd Markle was born April 23, 1922 in New York, to Lafayette and Laura Beitler Markle.
Markle joined the U.S. Navy on his 18th birthday, and was honorably discharged on April 25, 1946, after military service in World War II.
He grew up in Cuba Township where he owned a tree surgery business after the war.
Markle married Shirley Buschek of Barrington in 1955; they had one child raised in Libertyville.
He worked for the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Chicago as a Civil Engineer for many years, lived in Bartlett.
Veteran Robert Markle died January 1, 1987, and is buried with family members in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
