CPL Clifford H. Knudsen

Clifford Howard Knudsen was born October 6, 1924 in Chicago to Conrad and Hannah Olsen Knudsen.
He entered service for World War II on March 1, 1943 as a combat infantryman, where he was wounded in 1944. Knudsen was subsequently awarded the Purple Heart with two clusters and two bronze battle stars. He was discharged as Corporal on October 1, 1945.
After his discharge, he went into business with his older brothers as a flooring and carpet contractor in Lake Zurich.
On April 14, 1950, Knudsen married Dorothy Demopolis Lollis in Chicago; they raised two children in Wauconda.
CPL Clifford Knudsen died June 22, 1996 in Wauconda, and is buried with his brothers Marshall and Glenn - also World War II Veterans - in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
