Judson Lewis Hovland was born June 26, 1928 in Minneapolis to Ivor and Margaret Dix Hovland.

Hovland served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II from September 6, 1946 to his honorable discharge as a Corporal on August 14, 1948.

On February 23, 1957, he married Barbara Ann Reeder in Indiana; they raised three children in Barrington.

Hovland worked as an industrial engineer for United Airlines for 20 years, then worked for Computer Direct in Barrington.

He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.

CPL Hovland died April 12, 1988 in Barrington, and is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
