Harry Marshall Coffman was born October 9, 1894 in Rollo, Missouri, to James and Rosaline Crews Coffman.
On July 7, 1917, Coffman married Ruth V. Hasinbiller in Chicago; they had one child.
He served in World War I in the U.S. Navy from May 31, 1918, until his honorable discharge on September 30, 1921.
Coffman held a variety of jobs in his adult life: auto mechanic, factory worker, engineer for Jewel Tea Company, a painting contractor and a police night radio operator.
He was a life member and past Commander of the American Legion Post #158 in Barrington. He was also active with PAL Children’s Help, social-emotional after-school program, that helps families with developmental disabilities navigate public outings.
Veteran Harry Coffman died at Hines VA Hospital on April 29, 1987, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
