Orlin Harold Nuernberger was born August 25, 1913 in Leigh, Nebraska to Carl and Anna Ruff Nuernberger.

He enlisted for service in World War II on 3 March 1942, and served in the U.S. Army until December 8, 1945 when he was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant.

On October 24, 1944 he married Estelle Church of Barrington in Pinellas, Florida.

Nuernberger served as Barrington Postmaster from 1963 to 1972. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and Lutheran Layman’s League, as well as American Legion Post #158 and Disabled American Veterans Association.

SSGT Orlin Nuernberger died June 21, 1991 in Elgin and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
