PFC Frank S. Merchut

Frank Stanley Merchut was born May 23, 1911 in Chicago, to Joseph and Mary Kwasniak Merchut.
Merchut enlisted for service in World War II on March 11, 1942. He served in the 911th Signal Depot Company, a part of the USAR Signal Corps, responsible for maintaining and repairing communications equipment, including radios, telephones, and other signal devices, to ensure reliable communication for the US Army.
On August 4, 1948, Merchut married Helen Marie Wolfe; they had no children.
Professionally, he held a variety of positions, and was employed as custodian at Barrington High School at the time of his passing.
PFC Frank Merchut died July 31, 1971 in Elgin, and is buried with his wife at Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
