Donald McIntyre Wilkins was born December 31, 1926 in Chicago, to Albert and Mildred Wendt Wilkins.
After graduating from Barrington High School, Wilkins entered the U.S. Army on June 20, 1945. He was honorably discharged on February 7, 1947, rank unknown.
On September 3, 1949 , he married Delores McGraw in Wauconda; they raised one child in Cuba Township.
Early in his career, Wilkins was employed as a machinist for an electrical equipment manufacturer. Later, he opened his own machine shop, Donald Wilkins & Associate on Kelsey Road.
Veteran Donald Wilkins died in a hit and run accident while riding his bike on June 8, 1979 in Cuba Township, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
