PVT Lester Robinson

Lester Robinson was born September 22, 1895 in Chicago to Matthew and Anna Jane Robinson.

Robinson entered military service for World War I on May 3, 1918, and was assigned to the 5th Company, Overseas Convalescent Unit, where he served as a Private until honorably discharged on January 4, 1919. 

He grew up in Chicago, working in construction and engineering all his life, and was employed by the Chicago Public Schools for more than 30 years as a custodian and building engineer.

On June 20, 1931, Robinson married a Chicago Public Schools teacher, Florence Eilers; they raised one child in Morgan Park.

He was a member of the International Association of Operating Engineers, the Municipal Employees Society of Chicago, Guilford Waters Club, Gil W. Barnard lodge #908 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, and Medinah Temple.

PVT Lester Robinson died May 24, 1970 in South Pasadena, Florida, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
