PFC Glen H. Norris, DVM

Glen Herbert Norris was born March 9, 1894 in Beloit, Wisconsin, to Frank and Minnie Boss Norris.

The family left Wisconsin after the 1899 death of Norris’ mother and moved south to Winnebago County then to McHenry County. Norris graduated from Chicago Veterinary College with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 1917.

On March 20, 1918, Norris entered the U.S. Army, and served in World War I with the Supply Company, 123rd Field Artillery. He saw action in France and Luxemburg before his honorary discharge on June 8, 1919 as a Private First Class. 

Norris married Henrietta Kampert from Cuba Township on June 30, 1923 in Barrington; they raised two children.

He was a Veterinarian in Pecatonica, Illinois more than 50 years, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge there.

PFC Glen Norris died October 11, 1974 in Byron, Illinois, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
