PVT John T. Klokkenga

John Theodore Klokkenga was born November 6, 1904 in Logan County, Illinois to Harm and Katie Aper Klokkenga.
On December 10, 1922, Klokkenga married Emma Ann Henry in Macoupin County. They had one child before they divorced in 1939.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army on June 19, 1942, and was stationed at Camp Robinson, one of seven POW camps in Arkansas during World War II.
Klokkenga married Mildred R. Bruns in Concordia, Kansas, on September 15, 1945; they raised one son on their farm in Emden, Illinois.
He was a leader in Emden community affairs such as the Pastime Club, the Logan County Farm Bureau, and the Zion Methodist church.
PVT John T. Klokkenga died in Lincoln, Illinois on March 11, 1968; he rests with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
