PFC Edwin H. Homuth

Edwin H. Homuth was born May 11, 1890 in Barrington, to Herman and Caroline Tegtmeier Homuth.
Homuth served in World War I in the U.S. Army, Company I, 102nd Infantry, until his honorable discharge as a Private First Class on April 23, 1919. The 102nd was deployed in July, 1918 to the Chateau Thierry area and was involved in the battles of the Champagne-Marne, Aisne-Marne, and the Second Battle of the Marne.
On May 5, 1942, he married Helen Fry; they raised one child.
Homuth was a lifelong Barrington resident, a farmer, and a contractor-carpenter. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of Dundee and American Legion Post 158.
PFC Edwin Homuth died at his Barrington home on November 5, 1969, and is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
