Howard C. Sorensen was born July 10, 1930 in Chicago, the son of Soren H. and Anna Hass Sorensen.
He was a graduate of Albion College and Chicago’s John Marshall Law School (now UIC).
Sorensen married Elsie Ann Mudrak in Chicago on May 2, 1953; they raised five children in Arlington Heights before moving to Barrington in 1971.
A Korean War Veteran, Sorensen entered the U.S. Army on May 12, 1953, and was honorably discharged as a Corporal two years later.
He went on to a law career as a partner in the firm of Pretzel, Stouffer, Noland & Rooney, where he was a member of the Board of Governors of the Illinois Bar Association. He was also a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Nordic Law Club, and the Society of Trial Lawyers. Sorensen was a frequent lecturer at John Marshall Law School, University of Wisconsin, Illinois Institute of Technology, Kent Law School and the University of Kentucky Law School. Additionally, he delivered legal and paralegal courses at Harper College.
CPL Howard Sorensen was killed on February 15, 1975, when the private airplane in which he was a passenger crashed a snowstorm near Joliet Municipal Airport. He is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
