 William Bruce Mason was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 6, 1926, to Merrit and Mattie Licari Mason.

In 1944, he married his high school sweetheart, Jean Davis, in New Jersey; they raised four children.

Mason enlisted for service in the U.S. Army on February 9, 1944, and served in the tank corps in the European Theater during World War II; he was discharged on January 4, 1946.  After the war, he served in the Chemical Corps of the US Army Reserve.

In 1968, he founded Mason Chemical Company with his wife in Arlington Heights. 

William Mason died January 16, 1997, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
