Rodney D. Hamilton

Rodney Devon “Rod” Hamilton was born May 4, 1933 in Frankfort, Indiana, to Willard and Catherine Carter Hamilton.
Hamilton graduated from Frankfort High School before attending Indiana University in Bloomington, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1955 and his master’s degree in 1957.
He joined the U.S. Army following his graduation, and was assigned an officer post in New York City.
After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Hamilton moved to Barrington, Illinois to take a job with The Quaker Oats Company where he would work until retirement.
At Quaker Oats he met Joyce Granquist, and they were married on June 17, 1967 in Barrington. They raised two adopted sons.
Hamilton was a long-standing active member of the Willow Creek Community Church congregation in South Barrington, where he participated in a variety of ministries and activities. He engaged in a wide range of interests and hobbies throughout the years, from stamp and coin collecting to growing flowers and vegetables.
Rodney Hamilton died May 15, 2024 in Elk Grove, Illinois, and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
