CPL Bernard J. Zelsdorf

Bernard Joseph Zelsdorf was born November 23, 1888 in Lombard to Anton and Petronella Gruse Zuelsdorf.
Zelsdorf was a Veteran of World War I where he served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps, stationed in Fort Keogh, Montana from April 17, 1918 to April 1, 1919.
He married Ethel McGraw in Chicago on August 26, 1922; they raised two children.
Zelsdorf lived in the Barrington community for the last 33 years, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 158.
By profession, he was a maintenance worker at Jewel Tea Company for 17 years before health issues necessitated his retirement.
Corporal Bernard Zelsdorf died on December 8, 1961 at his Barrington home. He is buried with his wife and other members of his family in Evergreen Cemetery.
