PVT Howard R. Trimble

Howard Raymond Trimble was born May 5, 1905 in Barrington, to Robert and Emmaline Doane Trimble.

Trimble entered U.S. Army service for World War II on July 25, 1942 in the 128th Infantry Regiment. He was honorably discharged as a Private on July 12, 1945.  In 1942, the 128th, as part of the 32nd Infantry Division, broke through the Japanese lines at the Battle of Buna ("Bloody Buna"), New Guinea. In 1944, they defeated Japanese divisions at Saidor and Aitape, New Guinea, then defeated the Japanese Imperial First Marines in Leyte, and pierced the Yamashita Line in Luzon.

Trimble married Esther Hironimus in Lake County on August 11, 1945; they had 3 children.

While living in the Barrington community, Trimble made his living as a farmer and a truck driver. He and his wife moved to Arizona in 1954; in 1966, they returned to Woodstock.

Private Howard Trimble died August 27, 1968 at Downey Veterans Hospital, and is buried with family in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
