Cecil Eugene Paxton was born in Garner, Iowa on September 8, 1895, to Joseph H. and Lida Bell Paxton.
Paxton served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman Second Class; he was honorably discharged on January 30, 1919.
He was married to Helen Ann Johnson from 1916 to 1923, and they had 2 children.
Paxton worked for Express Companies and the C&NW Railroad before moving to Barrington, where he was a postal carrier by 1930, and remained a postal employee until his retirement.
He married Lolita Rieke on July 28, 1931 in Barrington.
Paxton was an active member of the American Legion, attending their annual convention in Miami in 1934, then cruising to Havana where he met Col. Batista, future President and dictator of Cuba.
Seaman Second Class Cecil Paxton died November 3, 1962 and is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
