David William Durkin was born October 1, 1948, in Danbury, Connecticut, to William and Arlene Lynch Durkin.

He graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and earned a Master’s Degree from Texas A&M.

Durkin married Carrie Ann Horsley on December 26, 1970, in Kirkwood, Missouri; they raised two children.

He served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged on  June 28, 1974.

Durkin went on to work as a meteorologist for United Airlines for 33 years, where he was president of Transport Workers Union Local 540.  He enjoyed gardening and music.

Captain David Durkin passed away suddenly on January 7, 2009, in Reston, Virginia, and rests in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
