Rolland George Dietrich was born March 31, 1920 to George C. and Malinda Homuth Dietrich.

Dietrich joined the Army October 15, 1941, and served through World War II. He was a radio operator in the First Armored Division and the 27th Field Artillery,  serving in battles on the European continent and French Morocco. He was honorably discharged as a Technical Specialist Grade 4 on June 26, 1945.

Dietrich married Joyce Noerenberg on September 17, 1949 in Barrington; they had two children.

Professionally, he was employed for 20 years by Illinois Bell Telephone Company, where he was a commercial maintenance manager. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Technical Specialist 4 Rolland Dietrich passed away on January 10, 1962 at his Barrington home after a lengthy illness, and is buried with his parents at Evergreen Cemetery.
