CPL George C. Dietrich
1894 - 1971
USAR
WWI

George Charles Dietrich was born July 31, 1894 in Huntley, to Joseph and Minnie Pinnow Dietrich.

Dietrich served in the U.S. Army during World War I, enlisting September 21, 1917, and serving in the 86th Infantry Division, Company C, 311th Field Signal Battalion. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on February 9, 1919.

Sixteen days after his discharge, Dietrich married Malinda E. Homuth in Barrington on Feb 25, 1919. The couple raised three children there.

His Signal Battalion experience dovetailed nicely with the profession Dietrich followed – he worked for the C&NW Railroad for more than 30 years as a Telegrapher and Leverman in Barrington.

Corporal George Dietrich died on November 22, 1975, and is buried with his wife and son in Evergreen Cemetery.
