Robert Erving Potter, Jr. was born July 21, 1926, in Chicago, to Robert and Ethel Koefoed Potter.

Potter earned a B. A. from the University of Michigan in 1947, as a brother of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He remained a lifelong Wolverines football fan and a member of the university’s Alumni Association.

Potter was Naval ROTC all four years, and served as a U.S. Naval officer following graduation.

Following in his father’s footsteps, he was an advertising man.

Potter’s first marriage produced two children, and his second, three children. He married fellow Michigan alum, Jeanne Swendeman Low, in later life.

He was an avid fisherman, and a member of Trout Unlimited.

Lieutenant Robert Potter, Jr. passed away April 2, 2010 in Barrington, and is buried with family members in Evergreen Cemetery.
