Earl Ray Gilly was born May 29, 1928 in Barrington, to Daniel L. and Mary Winkler Gilly.
Gilly proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War between 1952 and 1957, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a Market Manager for Jewel Foods for 39 years.
In Palatine, on June 3, 1950, he married Rosemary Krause; they raised four children.
Gilly was known as a man who lived his faith and was a loving and hard-working man.
SGT Earl R. Gilly passed away peacefully November 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He is buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
