CPL Clyde W. Thrasher

Clyde William Thrasher was born at Atwood, Illinois on November 12, 1891, to Henry and Florence Riley Thrasher.
Thrasher served in World War I in the 7th Company, 2nd Training Battalion, 158th Depot Brigade, from January, 1917 to February, 1919, where he attained the rank of Corporal. Depot Brigades were charged with training and preparing troops before they were shipped off to Europe, fostering effective American combat forces.
He married Lula A. Lewis at Montgomery, Alabama on August 24, 1918; they raised five children in Chicago, then moved to Barrington in 1952.
Through the years, Thrasher worked for himself, for a government agency, and for R.R. Donnelly where he retired after 15 years.
Corporal Clyde Thrasher died at Hines VA Hospital on June 26, 1958, and is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
