PVT Leon L. Monahan

Leon Lawrence “Pat” Monahan was born March 30, 1898 in Wauconda, to Edward and Johanna Donlea Monahan.

Monahan served in World War II as a U.S. Army Infantry, a Private in Company B, 34th Infantry in France. He was honorably discharged June 26, 1919.

He married Elizabeth (Welch) Rogers in June, 1936, and the couple lived in Barrington.

Monahan was a 30-year employee of the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, distinguished as a Trouble Shooter.

He was a member of the Barrington American Legion Post and St. Anne’s Church.

Private Leon “Pat” Monahan died suddenly January 26, 1953, and is buried with his wife at Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
