SGT Charles H. Brintlinger

Charles Howard Brintlinger was born on September 20, 1931, to Howard R. and Rose Walbaum Brintlinger. He lived his entire life in Barrington.
Brintlinger earned his first Bachelor’s degree at Ripon College in Wisconsin, and later earned a second degree in Civil Engineering at Northwestern University. He also spent three years in the Marine Corps, stationed in Nevada, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
In 1961, Brintlinger married Virginia Bolin; they had three children together.
Brintlinger started his career as an engineer for Cook County managing road construction, then in 1967 he began working for IBM where he quickly showed his talents as a Systems Engineer. In 25 years with the company, Brintlinger serviced mainframe computers and wrote specialized programs in fourteen different languages. He taught at IBM schools across the country and was a mentor to other computer programmers.
As an adult, he developed his athletic side as a runner, biker, swimmer and weight lifter.
Brintlinger married Patricia (Etten) Zoeller in 2001. They enjoyed twenty-two years together, pursuing an active social life, particularly in Marco Island and Naples, Florida, where they spent the winter months.
Sergeant Charles Brintlinger died peacefully on September 27, 2023. He rests peacefully in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
