Joseph Nick Masino was born in Chicago on January 9, 1942, to Nicholas and Edna Wagner Masino.
Masino grew up in Chicago across the street from Wrigley Field, and grew up working in his family’s pecan shelling business.
After graduating from Lakeview High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Masino served from February, 1961 to December 1964, attaining the rank of Airman Second Class.
He went on to graduate from Northern Illinois University with a B.A. in Business Administration.
Masino was the original owner of Grandpa's Deli in Barrington with his brother Richard, and resided in Barrington for more than 25 years. He was also active in a number of entrepreneurial pursuits.
He was the father of four children from his first marriage, and married his second wife, Susan L. Levy, on April 14, 2002. Masino loved family gatherings, cooking, gardening, traveling, baseball and his faithful yellow lab "Buck."
Airman Second Class Joseph Masino passed away peacefully on March 16, 2009 in Barrington, and is buried at Evergreen Cemetery.
