CPL E. Noel Stayner

Eugene Noel Stayner was born December 17, 1900 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to George E. and Adele De Fore Stayner (as proven by 1949 Iowa Delayed Certificate of Birth #289831).
Stayner served in the U.S. Army’s 311th Field Signal Battalion, Signal Corps in World War I for 22 months. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal on February 9, 1919.
He married Katherine Titus Meekins on February 14, 1923 in Cook County; they raised 5 sons.
Stayner was a U.S. Postal Service employee for 19 years, beginning as a carrier in the city of Barrington and retiring at the top grade. He was a member of American Legion Post 158.
Corporal E. Noel Stayner died April 9, 1952 at Hines VA Hospital; he is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
