SGT Harry A. Sharpe

Harry Archie Sharpe was born August 22, 1898 in Carlyle, Illinois, to Erastus and Mary Parker Sharp.

Sharpe served more than two years in the 6th Coast Artillery in World War I. He went on to supervise Citizen Conservation Camps in Michigan and Illinois.

He married Ellen A. Hauri on August 22, 1933 in Lake Zurich. The couple moved to Barrington in 1940, where they raised their two children.

Sharpe worked for a bus company, then for an automotive retailer as a  salesman.

Sergeant Harry Sharpe died at Sherman Hospital in Elgin on July 9, 1952. He is buried at Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
