Rollo Jay Nesset was born on September 5, 1931, in Chicago, to J. Harland and Violet Larson Nesset.

He grew up in Chicago, graduating from Austin High School, then served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Nesset married Margaret L. Dunn on March 3, 1951 in Cook County, Illinois; they had three children.

Nesset attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he earned his medical degree in 1959.

He married his second wife, Tommie Lee Petty, on July 22, 1967 in Texas, and they raised three children together.

In 1968, Nesset joined the staff at Northwest Community Hospital and Alexian Brothers Medical Center while starting his orthopedic practice, which spanned 50 years.

His natural curiosity for life and love of good adventure led him to heliskiing in Canada, barefooting in the Navy Pier Waterski Show, and bombing down mountains in Colorado. His natural athleticism led him to many friendly competitions on the tennis courts and sailing trips.

Rollo J. Nesset, M.D. passed away peacefully at his home in Kildeer on September 24, 2023.
