Raymond Eugene Moore was born March 18, 1898 in Evanston, to George S. and Josephine Carlson Moore.

Moore grew up in Evanston, graduated from New Trier High School, and attended Northwestern University. As a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of both World Wars, he was a longtime member of American Legion Post 42 in Evanston.

He worked as a plumber, then salesman for a wholesale plumbing/heating supply business, before working for Sears 17 years.

Moore married Ethel Edna Meyer of Barrington on July 27, 1933.  Each of them spent much of their adult life caring for widowed parents, and had no children.

After Ethel’s death, Moore married Elizabeth M. “Betty” Roberts on July 3, 1967. After retiring, they moved to Arkansas in 1970.

Raymond E. Moore died May 13, 1978. in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was buried in the Moore family plot in Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago, but a memorial stone is also found in Evergreen Cemetery with his first wife’s grave.
