David J. Fredin

David John Fredin was born in Chicago on March 5, 1931, to Gustaf and Margaret Erickson Fredin.

Fredin grew up in Barrington, and was a letterman in baseball, basketball, and golf before graduating from Barrington High School in 1949.   He joined the Navy in 1950, serving on an aircraft carrier for over 3 years during the Korean War.  

After his honorable discharge in 1954, he graduated with a degree in Sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University and later received a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from Northern Illinois University.   

Fredin married Glorianne Allison in Wheeling on March 28, 1964; they had two children.

Fredin’s career was largely spent with School District 211 (Palatine) and Hoffman Estates High School.  

David J. Fredin passed away on August 18, 2023. He is buried with his parents in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
