Richard Albe Allen was born April 4, 1918, in Pennsylvania ? Niagara Falls, New York, the son of the late Albert Lee and Carrie Blanche Allen.

Allen enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 12, 1942, and was honorably discharged on February 8, 1946.

After his military service Allen married Rita Mary Rice, and they raised four children.

Allen worked in the plastics industry in Marseilles, Illinois, until he was hired by the Great Lakes Fire Equipment Company in Barrington, retiring after 25 years of service. He was also a retired volunteer fireman and a Commissioner of the South Trail Fire District in Lee County, Florida, where he and his wife relocated after he retired.

Richard A. Allen died August 13, 2007, in Lexington, KY. He is buried with his wife in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
