PVT Harold R. Waldvogel

Harold Richard Waldvogel was born October 28, 1912, in Cicero, to Richard and Lillian (Ray) Waldvogel.

He served as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II from July, 1942 to December, 1945; he received the Purple Heart for leg and chest wounds received from an artillery shell in July, 1944.

He married Juanita M. Smith on December 31, 1942; they had three children.

After the war, Waldvogel worked for Western Electric and retired after 40 years of service.

Private Harold R. Waldvogel died August 17, 2002, in Memphis, Tennessee, and is buried with his wife at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington.
