Wayne Allen Smith was born Dec. 25, 1946, in Houma, Louisiana, to Milton and Rita (Leboeuf) Smith.
Smith enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 21, 1964, and was honorably discharged on December 29, 1967 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class. He received a Purple Heart for his service in Vietnam.
He married Janet Seymour, and they had 2 daughters.
Smith was a member of Disabled American Veterans Association, United Auto Workers Local #6 and the International Association of Machinists.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Wayne Smith died January 11, 1999, in Elgin. He is buried in Barrington’s Evergreen Cemetery.
