Charles Thomas Smith was born January 22, 1933, in Barrington, to Reynold and Ann (Thomas) Smith.

After graduating from Barrington High School in 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and served during the Korean War until September 5, 1954. He attained the rank of Sergeant.

Smith married Ann Cunningham; they had two children. He married Marjorie Lloyd and they had two children.

Sergeant Charles Thomas died July 6, 1994, in Barrington; he is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
