Charles G. Senn was born January 8, 1833 in Switzerland; he emigrated to the United Statesin 1851.
He married Sarah in 1860; they raised one son and an adopted daughter.
Senn was living in Cuba Township when he enlisted for service in the Union army on September 6, 1861. He would serve in three different Cavalry units during the war, as Gilbert’s Independent Cavalry (1861-1862), was assigned to Company H, 12th Illinois Cavalry (1862) and later, Company G, 15th Illinois Cavalry (1863-1864). Senn mustered out October 31, 1864 with the rank of Private. The Company saw action at Shiloh and the Siege of Corinth.
In 1880 he was employed as a carpenter in Barrington.
Private Charles Senn died November 8, 1909 in Barrington and rests with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery.
