SGT David Dawson
c. 1830 - 1864
Co. B, 13th IL Cavalry
CW
David Dawson was born about 1830.
Dawson was married and living in Barrington as a teacher when he enlisted November 18, 1861, as a Sergeant in Company B, 13th Illinois Cavalry Regiment. He was promoted in March, 1862 to Quartermaster Sergeant, and mustered out two months later on July 5, 1862.
Given his shortened length of service and subsequent death two years later, it seems probable that he was either ill or wounded, but this is undocumented.
Sergeant David Dawson died in September, 1864, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
