Vernon Oliver Heeren was born on December 9, 1923 in Gillespie, Illinois, the son of Harry and Margaret Schmidt Heeren.
After graduating from Austin High School in Chicago, Heeren enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served in World War II, flying missions from bases in France and Italy.
When he returned from World War II, Heeren embarked upon a career in television advertising.
He married Florence A. Kapturski on May 3, 1948 in Chicago; they raised two children during their 49 years of marriage.
A resident of Barrington for almost 60 years, Heeren was active in church and civic affairs.
Vernon Heeren passed away in Barrington on April 15, 2018. He is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery there.
